Alfredo Maestro founded his namesake winery back in 1998 in the village of Penafiel, located in the heart of Castilla y Leon. His nine hectares of vines are farmed organically and are rooted into limestone-granite soils and soaring altitudes (750-1,150 meters). Fruit for ‘El Marciano’ comes from 70-year-old vines rooted into decomposed granite soils. Destemmed and spontaneously fermented, this steel-aged wine is tangy and tart, marked by powerful acidity and mineral-driven undertones.
