Alberto Orte is considered one of the most talented of today's Spanish vintners. 'Anibal' is made from 90-year-old Garnacha, Tempranillo, and Viura, much of it from old vines grown on the highest slopes of Rioja. The Sierra de la Demanda range sits at 2,300 ft, a very different setting high above the vineyards commonly associated with Rioja. This is a remote place, and Alberto Orte is the only producer making 100% Sierra de la Demanda wine right now, as far as we know.
