Located four short kilometers from the village of Ampuis, Domaine Jamet sits on the esteemed ‘Le Vallin’ plateau, producing deep, succulent Syrah under the family name since 1976. Jean-Paul Jamet is a big supporter of traditional techniques, including partial whole-cluster fermentation, vinification in stainless steel, and aging in large oak casks. The 2014 ‘Cote-Brune’ shows dark fruit and meaty undertones, with crunchy tannins and a mineral-driven finish. Fruit comes from a small .55 hectare plot, purchased in 1948. 18-21 day vinification, pumpovers, and aged or 22 months in large oak casks; unfined and unfiltered.
