Vieux Télégraphe is regarded as one of the most important producers in the southern Rhône. The estate has been headed by the Brunier family for over 100 years, who from the start, have been pioneers of Grenache, the region’s unique soils, and the creation of terroir-reflective wines. ‘La Crau’ is considered to be Chateauneuf-du-Pape’s most esteemed ‘grand cru’ and is located at the extreme southeast tip of the appellation. The vineyard is characterized by layered alluvial soils, most notably dotted with galet stones at the surface level. These special rocks help insulate vines from extreme weather conditions, as well as provide optimal drainage for the roots. ‘La Crau’ is an insanely deep and concentrated wine, marked by earth-driven flavors of dark fruit, briny olives, and cracked black pepper. This bottle is an absolute must for any reputable cellar.
