Varietal Nebbiolo from Roagna never disappoints. The estate is one of Piedmont’s top producers and is best-known for their dry, aromatic cuvées produced from long macerations and Slavonian oak aging. Fruit for ‘Pira’ comes from its namesake cru in Castiglione Falletto and is hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and aged in large French botti for five years. The wine is elegant and aromatic, marked by flavors of red fruit, tobacco, worn leather, and sultry spice. Will age for the next decade, though we wouldn’t wait too long to pop this beauty.
