Il Borghetto comprises five organically farmed hectares of vines in the heart of the Chianti appellation, forgoing DOCG status to create wines to his own unique preferences. Some whole cluster fermentation is implemented, an unusual practice for Italians, adding structure and aromatic complexity to the wines. The 2013 ‘Monte de Sassi’ is dry and red-fruited, noted with herbs, wild flowers, and minerals. Plush & juicy-- a steal for the price.
