Widely regarded as Piedmont’s greatest producer of Barolo, Giacomo Conterno founded the regarded estate in the early 20th century, producing world class Nebbiolo across 16 hectares in Serralunga d’Alba. Fruit for ‘Monfortino’ comes from the Cascina Francia cru, produced only in exceptional vintages. Fruit ferments for 3-4 weeks in wooden vats, followed by minimum 7 years of aging in large casks. The 2006 vintage is mouth coating and bright, full of chewy tannins and perfumed complexity. Will age for decades to come.
