We’re big fans of this two-person wine project based in Sebastopol. Jolie-Laide is Jenny Schultz and partner Scott Schultz. They call themselves a "tiny, hands on (and feet) operation making distinct and fascinating wines." This is down to their methods: grapes are left whole cluster, foot crushed, and aged in neutral oak with a focus on French varieties. "The approach is a natural one, a less is more ethos," according to the duo. We love the attention to new world Gamay, a grape widely associated with Beaujolais which comes to life here as a concentrated, juicy sip. We're pouring this with burgers, charcuterie plates, maybe even a BLT. It's dynamic enough for meals that bring both fresh and savory flavors together.
