Cruse is a boutique winery based out of Petaluma, known for their energetic, ‘thoughtfully crafted table wines.’ Fruit for this varietal Carignan comes from a 100-year-old organically farmed vineyard in Contra Costa. Fruit is whole cluster fermented in concrete followed by a 20-day skin maceration. The wine then ages in neutral oak for 12 months, leading to a spicy and lifted final wine noted with flavors of strawberry jam, tart cherries, blood orange, and pepper. Only 140 cases produced.
